Summit Yoga - Class Descriptions
Fitness Flow builds stamina and strength while improving flexibility, balance and concentration. Posture routines include holding poses and flowing movement coordinated with the breath. Fitness Flow is suited for all students.
A one hour practice including all the fundamental categories of poses (standing, balancing, twisting, hip openers) that isn't afraid to stop, explore and embody correct form and alignment.
This class is designed to increase flexibility, strength and concentration. Great class for those who are recovering from injury or prefer a softer yoga practice (no downdogs or planks!!) or looking to explore yoga for the first time. This is a great class for anyone.....especially effective for Baby Boomers.
Finding the balance between strength and flexibility through linking breath (pranayama) with conscious movement. Concentrating on proper alignment and engagement of core muscles and discovering your bandhas (energy locks). Focus on one "PEAK" posture in class. This class is warm (heated to 80 degrees) and appropriate to all students.
Slow Flow Vinyasa
Embracing the flow of sun salutations, this class will bring awareness to breath and body. Expect to learn proper alignment and breathing techniques to open the body and mind for increased health and wellness. Open to all students.
Focus on linking conscious breath with a mindful flow which awakens strength, energy, and flexibility. This class includes traditional asana (poses) and sequences: sun salutations, standing poses, seated poses, backbends and an opportunity to learn/practice inversions. Open to all students.
Heal the body and renew the spirit! Yin Yoga is holding postures for 3 - 5 minutes and opening energy pathways. Yin improves joint mobility and reestablishes a calm balance. The focus on breathing coupled with long, deep holds encourages us to surrender control over our bodies.
Yoga Core and Yin Yoga
This class is designed to challenge your body while moving with breath. In the beginning, we will move through a series of dynamic, static and balancing postures designed to strengthen and stabilize the core muscles. Class will then focus and conclude with a deep stretching in Yin postures to stretch the connective tissue's of the body, the tendons, fascia and ligaments, with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.
